Our Mission

Connecting Communities, Building Opportunities

We design thoughtfully structured events that foster genuine connections, elevate business visibility, and create meaningful opportunities across the diverse communities of Edmonton.

Beyond Transactional

Spaces Where Real Connection Happens

We move past transactional market models to create thoughtfully structured gatherings. Our approach ensures every event fosters authentic interaction, lasting impact, and elevates all participants beyond a simple vendor table.

Our Roots

Edmonton's Event Architects

Events That Connect YEG was founded on the belief that every local business, from innovative home-based service providers to established organizations, deserves a vibrant platform to thrive. We build inclusive environments where diverse entrepreneurs and community members genuinely connect.

Our commitment extends beyond event logistics; we craft experiences that strengthen the social and economic fabric of our community, one thoughtful gathering at a time.

Different experiences. One purpose behind them all.

Meet Renee Anglin: The heart behind Events That Connect YEG

That mission is personal to me because I want to be instrumental in creating those opportunities for someone else.

“Our mission is to create meaningful, professionally managed events that connect people, strengthen businesses and bring communities together.”

I’m Renee Anglin, the founder of Events That Connect YEG, and for me, it has always been about bringing people together.

I’ve been involved in events in one way or another for at least the past 10 years. Along the way, I realized just how much I genuinely enjoy bringing all the moving pieces together and creating experiences where people can connect. Getting more deeply involved in events feels like a natural next step for me—and one I’m incredibly excited about.

My professional background is rooted in accounting, management and business operations. I also run Simply Supported Virtual Solutions, where I help business owners manage the many moving pieces behind their businesses.

Although the work may look different from one day to the next, the reason behind it has always been the same: I genuinely love supporting people as they build something meaningful.

I’m also the founder of the YEG Home-Based Business Hub and, at my core, a community connector. I love sitting down with business owners, hearing their stories and learning about what they are building. Those conversations matter because you never know what can begin with one genuine connection.

Over time, I realized that events are one of the greatest ways to create those connections.

Events bring people into the same room. They introduce businesses to the people who need them. They allow community members to discover what is being created around them. Sometimes, they even lead to relationships and opportunities that may never have happened otherwise.

I strongly believe that a connected business ecosystem is better for everyone. It helps businesses become more visible, makes it easier for community members to discover and support them, and creates more opportunities for people and organizations to learn from one another.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

Whenever possible, our events also support a nonprofit organization, spotlight local businesses and encourage youth entrepreneurship. These are not simply additions—they are part of the Events That Connect YEG signature.

Events That Connect YEG is not only about the events we create. We are also here to help businesses, nonprofits, associations and community organizations develop and manage events of their own.

Whether you are opening a business, launching something new, planning a community gathering, organizing a market or starting with the very beginning of an idea, you do not have to bring all the pieces together alone.

Helping you bring your event to life.

My motivation for creating Events That Connect YEG is simple: I want to bring people together. Each experience we create serves that purpose in its own way. The YEG Home-Based Business Expo spotlights the wide range of home-based businesses across Greater Edmonton, while The Small Business Social creates a relaxed space for genuine conversations and connections. Good Finds Market introduces the community to thoughtfully selected local businesses, products and the entrepreneurs behind them.

As we grow, the Edmonton Business Resource Expo (EBR Expo) will bring businesses, valuable resources and community members together for a family-friendly day of connection and discovery. The future Women’s Wellness Social will create a supportive space centred around women’s overall well-being, meaningful conversations and community. Although every event is different, they all reflect the same purpose: creating meaningful experiences that connect people, strengthen businesses and bring communities together.

Supporting new businesses is especially close to my heart. I love being there from the beginning—helping someone take an idea, work through the details and turn it into something real.

It is the same approach I bring to Simply Supported Virtual Solutions: I want to work alongside you, understand what you are trying to create and help you bring the pieces together.

Events That Connect YEG allows me to do what I genuinely love: support people, strengthen businesses and help communities become more connected.

That is who I am, and that is the reason behind everything we are building.

I’m fairly easy to find, but I’ll share it anyway. You can find me at @builtonconnections across social media or search for Renee Anglin on LinkedIn.

I hope we have an opportunity to connect—whether I see you at one of our events, learn more about your business or help you bring an event of your own to life.
